What is CBT?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a practical, evidence-based talking therapy that helps us understand the connection between our thoughts, feelings and behaviours.

At times in life, we can become stuck in unhelpful patterns of thinking that affect our confidence, relationships, mood and ability to cope. CBT helps us recognise these patterns and develop new ways of responding to life's challenges.

Sometimes the difficulties we experience today are linked to beliefs and assumptions that developed earlier in life. By understanding how past experiences may have shaped these patterns, we can begin to challenge unhelpful ways of thinking and develop more balanced and compassionate perspectives.

One of the things I value most about CBT is that it provides practical tools and strategies that you can continue to use long after therapy has ended.

CBT Therapy Glasgow

What to expect when you contact me:

I understand from personal experience how difficult it can feel to take the first step towards therapy.

To make things easier, I offer a free, no-obligation Zoom or telephone conversation before you make a decision. This gives us both the opportunity to get to know each other a wee bit and a space for you to ask any questions you may have. Research consistently shows that the most important factor influencing successful therapy is the relationship. It is crucial therefore that you feel comfortable, understood and safe with me.

If you decide to go ahead, I will send you an agreement outlining practical matters such as confidentiality, cancellations and payment. I may also ask you to complete a short questionnaire to help us establish a starting point and measure progress throughout our work together.

Our first session will focus on understanding your current difficulties, exploring what you would like to achieve through therapy, and agreeing goals that feel meaningful and realistic for you.

From there, we will work collaboratively and at a pace that feels comfortable. Together we will explore patterns of thinking and behaviour, increase self-awareness, and develop practical tools that can help you cope more effectively and create lasting change.

Sessions are available in person in Glasgow City Centre, Clarkston and Newton Mearns, as well as online across the United Kingdom.
Cost per session £50.00 - contact us to book an appointment.
